Thomas was a past president of the International Camellia Society.  He was a frequent traveler to society meetings and was always on the lookout for unusual camellia plants that could be introduced to the U. S.  This memorial garden was installed at the Monticello Street entrance to the Lincoln County Library.  The garden includes several varieties of camellias that Thomas loved.  It also includes the Thomas Perkins and Boozie B camellias which were introduced here in Brookhaven.

This garden was formally dedicated on November 11, 2002.  Take a moment when you visit the Library, sit for a bit with "Nina" and her book, and reflect on the contribution that Thomas made to Brookhaven as well as the worldwide camellia community.
