Basset Hounds

We have been fortunate to be owned by several basset hounds over the years. This page is dedicated to Jerry, Amanda, and Claudia who have gone ahead to beautiful woods and pastures with wonderful scents for them to trail.

This picture shows Claude (Black & Tan) and Cornelia (Lemon & White), who provide more than a decade of unconditional companionship that seems to be a key basset trait. Let them go and they only focus on what smells are at the end of their nose.

In this picture they are with their best friend, Morris the Cat, our 20 year old patriarch of Bluebird Meadows. Morris died in 2001 and was buried in the family pet area with his best friend, Claudia.  Claude died in 2006 and Cornelia died in2009, both now with others in the family pet cemetery.

Their voices provide that sound of excitement that only hounds "on scent" can provide.
