Historic Preservation
Here are several of the buildings that have been restored in
an effort to preserve important segments of Lincoln County
history.
Foster-Smith Log Cabin
- Built about 1820 in Beauregard, a
community just above Lincoln County. It was moved by to
Brookhaven in the 1950's by Andrew and Monelle Smith to
save it from destruction. This Cabin was willed to The
Brookhaven Trust by the Smiths and was relocated during
the mid 1990's to Railroad Park for use in public events
and historic education
.
Lampton Auditorium
- Built in 1913 on Whitworth College Campus.
After years of neglect and slow deterioration it was
restored to its former condition and open to the public
in 1999. It is now the Mississippi School
of the Arts, which opened in August 2003 with the restoration of
the remaining Whitworth buildings in progress.

The Brookhaven Depot
- Built in 1907. It sits downtown Brookhaven
and still in use with restored exterior and roof tiles. It now is
the Military Memorial Museum.
